When the other side doesn’t follow the court order.
A court order only helps if it is followed. When a former spouse or co-parent stops paying support, keeps you from your time with your children, or ignores the terms of your divorce, attorney Jessica Ramirez-Garcia helps Miami-Dade and Broward clients enforce their rights, in English or Spanish.

Orders we enforce
- Child support that is unpaid or late
- Alimony that has stopped
- Time-sharing when a parent refuses to follow the parenting plan
- Property division, such as refusing to sign over a car, sell a house, or split a retirement account
- Payment of shared expenses, such as medical bills, school costs, or attorney’s fees
Tools the court can use
- Contempt of court for a party who has the ability to comply but willfully refuses, with a “purge” amount they must pay to avoid further penalties
- Income deduction orders that take support directly from a paycheck
- Judgments for past-due amounts, which can include interest
- Make-up time-sharing and other remedies when a parent has been denied time with the child
- Driver’s license suspension and other state collection tools for unpaid child support
- Attorney’s fees in many enforcement cases

Frequently asked questions
How far back can I collect unpaid child support?
Past-due child support generally remains owed until it is paid, and the court can enter a judgment for the full amount. We can calculate what you are owed.
My ex keeps canceling my time with our child. What can I do?
The court can enforce your parenting plan, order make-up time, and take other steps if the violations continue. Keep a record of each missed visit.
Can I stop my ex’s time-sharing if they don’t pay support?
No. Time-sharing and child support are separate. Withholding the child can hurt your case. Use the court to enforce support instead.
Who pays the attorney’s fees?
In many enforcement cases, the court can order the party who violated the order to pay your reasonable attorney’s fees.
